The Effects of Short Wave UV Irradiation (254-366nm) on Color Values of Recycled and Bleached ONP/OMP Pulps

Abstract

ABSTRACT As it is known, mechanical pulp papers include significant amount of lignin and carbohydrates as well as cellulose. Thus, when these lignin reach papers irradiated with short wave UV light they could not protect their color. In this study, bleaching of ONP/OMG recycled pulps with hydrogen peroxide, sodium percarbonate, sodium dithyonite, sodium borohydride and formamidin sulfunic acid were performed. Then the test papers of these pulps were irradiated with 254-366nm UV light and changes in the ISO Brightness, CIE L*a*b*, yellowness (YI) and whiteness (WI) values were observed. At the result of study, all bleaching agents were determined as insufficient in the respect of color stability. But if they compared with each other, the two stages sodium percarbonate-sodium borohydride bleaching sequence was gave the best results against to color reversion. Kısa Dalga Boylarında Uygulanan (254-366nm) UV Işınımının Geri Dönüştürülen ve Ağartılan Atık Gazete ve Magazin Kâğıdı Hamurlarının Renk Değerleri Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

Gazete kağıdı gibi mekanik hamur bazlı kağıtlar selülozun yanı sıra önemli miktarda lignin ve karbonhidrat
ihtiva etmektedir. Bu sebeple ışık etkisiyle kolayca sararmakta dolayısı ile başlangıç rengini
koruyamamaktadır. Yapılan bu çalışmada hidrojen peroksit ve sodyum perkarbonat gibi peroksit türevleri ve
sodyum ditiyonit, sodyum borhidrür ve formamidin sülfünik asit gibi indirgeyici özellikteki reaktifler ile
ağartılan atık gazete-magazin kâğıdı hamurlarının, UV (254nm-366nm) ışınlarına maruz bırakılarak
yaşlandırılması ve uygulanan işlem süresinin ISO parlaklığı, L*a*b* renk değerleri, beyazlık (WI) ve sarılık (YI)
indeksi üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlardan tüm ağartıcıların renk kararlılığını korumakta
yetersiz olduğu bununla birlikte sodyum borhidrür ile ağartılan hamurlar ile sodyum perkarbonat ve sodyum
borhidrürün ard arda kullanıldığı kademelerin bir nebzede olsa daha dirençli sonuçlar verdiği tespit
edilmiştir.
